Before Trade School
What was your background before attending trade school?
I've been in the industrial construction field for 17 years. I knew some folks in the industry, and so I just fell into it after high school. I went back to trade school to become certified in crane operation and take on other tasks in welding. The more certifications you can provide on a job site, the higher the likelihood you’ll get hired and the more earning potential in a project.
During School
How did Lumion help you on your educational journey?
Everything's been going smoothly. I don’t know if there’s anything that can be done better. No complaints on my end, the application process was easy, and making payments is simple. There’s no room for questions, and if I need to change anything, I’ll just call in.
“Everything just went through like butter. In one word, I would describe it as ‘simple’. ”

Life on the Job
What's it been like working in the field?
It’s nothing new to me, like I said, I’ve been at this for 17/18 years. I don’t necessarily work as a crane operator; this was just one of the other certificates I’ve gotten throughout the years. My main trade is welding; I’m a pipe fitter, but I don’t like being stuck in one trade for too long.
Advice
What advice do you have for those pursuing a trade school education?
I would just say that if it’s something you want to do, just follow your dreams or what feels right to you at the moment. Whatever you want to pursue in life, you have to keep at it and just go. If you’re choosing a trade, wake up every day and do your best work on it, and you will succeed.
